Curriculum

At Highwood Primary School, we believe in the concept of lifelong learning and the notion that learning should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone. Through our teaching we equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to be able to make informed choices. We believe that appropriate teaching and learning experiences help children to lead happy and rewarding lives.  All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their ethnic background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background. We strive hard to meet the needs of those pupils with special educational needs, those with disabilities, those with special gifts and talents and the children who are learning English as an additional language.

At Highwood Primary School, all teachers are responsible for providing an inclusive curriculum that is differentiated for those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND. Additional information on this can be found in our Special Education Needs  and Equalities Policy.

Our Curriculum Overviews and Subject Plans are reviewed on an annual basis during the Summer Term in preparation for the next academic year.

The following information was updated November 2023 and can be found below.

If you have any questions regarding our curriculum please speak initially to your child's class teacher, or if you are a visitor to our school contact the school office, who will arrange for the relevant member of staff to contact you.
